ABOUT

Séval is the jewelry practice of Lia Séval, a French-Venezuelan designer based in Paris.
A collector of the ordinary, she gathers stones and objects on walks and travels, bringing them together in collections she calls “collects.”

Each piece is a fragment of natural matter or a human-made structure, returned to an organic state, that of pebbles, by the passing of time, accident, or deliberate destruction. Each gathering subtly narrates this fragile dialectic. These fragments stand as silent witnesses, their rough surfaces speaking of transformations, displacement, collective struggles, and intimate histories. In response to the challenges of production in the twenty-first century, she asks how we might create with what persists, what resists, and what is already there. Her jewelry emerges from a practice of reuse, each piece becoming an artifact that holds memory and awakens the imagination.
